The Reverend Dr. Gabriel A. Sinisi has been elected as the third Rector of Church of the Advent.  He will assume his new position, on January 8^th, 2006. Fr. Gabe became interested in Church of the Advent as a result of our ad in The Living Church. The Parish Profile and Strategic Plan on Advent’s website convinced him to contact us. After interviews with the Search Team, Vestry, Bishop Smith, and extensive background checks, he emerged as the best qualified of the three finalists selected by the Search Team from the approximately 80 candidates reviewed. 

Fr. Sinisi grew up in New Jersey.  He first had inklings of a call to the ministry as a young man, but pursued a 20 year career as an MD, specializing in Internal Medicine. During this time, he and his wife Mary became Episcopalians. They have two daughters, Elizabeth (12) and Sarah (10).  In 1992, with Mary’s support, Fr. Gabe began his studies at Sewanee Theological Seminary and was ordained an Episcopal Priest in 1997.

His first call was to help a failing church in rural New Jersey which turned into a growing, self supporting parish.  He was then called to St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Key Biscayne, Florida.  Over the ensuing 6 years, he led its' renaissance to become a successful parish church with a Montessori School.

The Rev. Canon Geoffrey Dibbs. Canon Dibbs is retired from full time ministry and is responsible for directing the Pastoral Care ministries of Advent including our grief ministry, "Good Grief", Communion for people who are unable to attend worship services and related activities at Advent.  He regularly assists Fr. Sinisi at worship and preaches.
